Kelly's deep dimension 24 gallon.

Hey folks, been awhile since I've shared since I sold my 58. I kept a few of my favorite fish in a 40 breeder QT and set up a 10 gallon in our guest room to house a few select corals I didn't want to lose.
Well.... I got the itch for something new and didn't want something big since we are finally house shopping.
I found a great deal on a small tank with dimensions that suit my tastes, so I'll be updating this thread with photos as well as soliciting suggestions for help and ideas on this 24 gallon build.

First plans are to paint the wood trim black and re-do the vertical silicone in black.
The tank is RR, and I plan on turning my 10 gallon into a chaeto filled sump as I won't be running a skimmer. Lighting consists of 4X 26 watt Sylvania 6500K CFLs hanging under a dome reflector above supplemented by my ecoxotic stunners (1X12w blue) (1X12w magenta/blue). Flow will be managed by one Vortec mp10.
I have no plans for a stand, and assume I'll need to build one as this is an odd footprint.
I imagine I'll just have the single Geometric Pygmy Hawk as the only fish as its been a joy in my 10 gallon mixed reef so far.
All the corals and livestock from the 10 will be going into the 24.

Here is some of the livestock that will be going into this tank in the weeks/months to come.

I picked up the tank today. It was as described and will be perfect for my plans.
I broke out the Sprayway and some FrogTape to clean it up and start masking off the glass to spray the wood colored trim black. I will also be painting the overflow black with Krylon Fusion. In addition, I'd like to paint the exterior of the back wall a color instead of the black I did on my previous tank. I see a lot of blue walls that look pretty good...maybe a purple wall?

For anyone who would like to chime in,
1) Any ideas for a stand? [smilie=thinking.gif]
2) Back wall color? [smilie=thinking.gif]

Do any of you keep tanks featuring a single fish?

Given that it's not a standard dimension I'd just build one personally.

For the back I went with the royal blue. I like the color but am going to go black for my next tank as I think it gives better contrast than the royal blue.

I would use black background. Looks like you cleaned the hell out of that tank, are you painting th rims? I'm assuming that is why it's masked off

Thanks for looking! [smilie=lol.gif] I'm beyond ready to get this lil tank up and running. I still haven't decided where in our home I'd like to place the tank...

I bought a piece of furniture that I plan to use as a stand. After some paint, and a hardware change, it'll be perfect. I'll post photos of it tonight.

The before and after paint makes it look like an entire different tank. Good job. Looking forward in seeing it complete. said:

Here's the thrift store find that I will be re-painting and adding new hardware to. It's pretty cheesy in its present state, but it'll be great. Dimensions were a perfect fit for this oddball tank.
