Ok,

During my test run I found two minor leaks.

1.) Bulkhead on sump was dripping out from between the glass and the bulkhead, So, I just removed it, painted silicone on it with an acid-brush.

Reattached and cranked it down. Tested today, no leaks.

Also, the bulkheads for my drain on the left side of the tank was leaking a pretty good drip.

So, I am going to loosen it and silicone it as well, and the crank it back down. I have it so tight already, I don't wanna risk cracking the glass bottom, or breaking the bulkhead.

Sucky thing is that I have the plumbing glued in place, which makes the bulkhead non-removable unless I redo a lot of plumbing.

But, the pipes don't leak, only the bulkhead, I am sure a little silicone will get us going in the right direction.

Because i will be doing this same thing pretty soon......
Can I get the run down of your wet test?
Did you use regular tap water when you wet tested?

I thought I read somewhere that it is good to run your wet test 24hrs with pumps and all.

I think I will use regular tap water as to not run the risk of contaminating my RO/DI water.

On your bulkheads... Did you use some type of lubrication for the gaskets before tightening them?

On the water test, I am using RO water.

My recommendation, while you are mounting the plumbing, fill the overflows about 1/3 full of water.

Moving around piping and gluing it up will unseat your seals and cause minor drips. It's nice to be able to adjust everything square while the glue is still curing.

I didn't do this and what I have now is a drip I am going to have to silicone to get a good seal. NO FUN !

Also, I just lubed up the gaskets with SP-40 (spit).

Anyway, good luck.

Brad you are making great progress and a good job of documenting as you go. Is this your first tank major tank build? Keep up the good work.

Thanks Washington,

This is my first full scale build. It's actually the first time in 4 attempts i have really devoted attention and planning to it as opposed to just wedging it into my space, and my budget.

So I went with a 90 used, from a Craigslister, got my hands and floors nice and wet for 6 months and dove into a slightly larger, more challenging, albeit totally doable project. The 120G (which is enormous to me.)

I realize it's a splash compared to what some of these guys are doing with 400G's, 240's, etc. OMG ...

Thanks for keeping an eye on my progress, I will be posting picks soon to document my stocking over the next few weeks.

Now, to get my wife's dining table back in place before turkey day. (now that's the REAL challange.)

Ask an ye shall receive.

I am taking a lot of pics this go around, because I want to look back and be motivated by the barren landscape I have now, in the future.

As I mentioned, I remain conservatively optimistic that the amount of money and time devote to this point, will be the preface to a successful captive reef.

Halides on at 11:00 a.m.
