i have 40 lbs, about ,of tufa in my tank ,it is always very dusty it hit by power head stream.I have pulled them out and rinsed it 2 times but it still has alot of dust,is it disolving,or what. Suggestions?

i have way more than 40lbs in my tank and it does seem to be a little more fragile but i wouldnt call it dusty. Also on a side note tufa is calcium carbonate which like aragonite will buffer your pH which is good but it does loose mass in the process so it is therefore dissolving. I dont seem to have a problem with it causing dust storms or anything plus now that its covered in coraline i hardly notice. The resident urchin will eat the coraline and some tufa exposing some then i get a little dust. I still have no regrets.

i think some of that dust is probably detritus as well as crumbling tufa. tufa is very porous, so I am sure a lot of crud gets trapped in it.
