I wanted to post this for anyone who doesn't have one of these. My reef has been setup for a few years and after seeing Aaron's tank yesterday, I decided to try and replicate his skimmer silencer on my old school asm g3.
Turns out everyone else in the world of SW has one of these. I don't know why on earth I hadn't looked into this sooner.
Used a old film canister, a 3/8" drill bit, a 2" piece of 3/8" tubing. My Venturi hose is 3/8" also.
1. Drill a hole in bottom off center.
2. Drill a hole in lid off center.
3. Shove 2" hose into hole in cap.
4. Shove Venturi hose into hole in base.
5. Reattach lid.
6. Enjoy silence and make a list of the rest of the equipment to try and silence tomorrow.

I read somewhere it works because sound is linear in nature and it has a hard time making an s-shape to get out (like a car muffler).
