Pump giving off electricity

Right you are grounded so that is why you feel the shock from the pump and the corals and fish do not. Buy a new pump.

Correct the water is not grounded, so they do not fell anything. If you jump into the tank you would feel anything either until you touched something that was a ground.

Also agree not sure you can fix anything just need to replace the pump. What kind of pump is it?

Livestock is definitely affected by electricity in the water, even with the ground probe in place. Tangs can suffer from HLLE, and Montipora may not open up like they would normally. I've seen both occur. It is best to remove the problem, which you stated you are going to do. Glad to hear it.

Have you pulled off the cover off the back of that pump yet? Unplug it first! Tesfeld lost his reef to a GenX pump that melted down in his sump, which lead to a domino effect with Planaria and Xenia crashing.
