Plumbers putty?

I've used the epoxy putty stick on a few things and it works out well for things that I want to permanently attach.

I was wondering if the "Ultra" non-staining, non-toxic, non-soluble, non-hardening plumbers putty that is made for natural and porous surfaces would be okay to use to temporarily attach things? Like the "Sta Put Ultra" here http://www.cloroben.com/products/putty_epoxy.html

For instance my liverock is currently held together with a careful balance of hopes and prayers. Any time I touch it or move something around things are apt to fall and shift in undesirable ways. I was thinking a blob of the plumbers putty at key locations would help add some stability but also allow me to pull things apart later if I need to.

Anyone ever try this or have an opinion on it one way or another?

Plumbers putty is used as a seal I wouldn't use it for rock work... I'm a licensed plumber
