So, somewhere it said brown phytoplankton. Is anyone maintaining or trying to maintain a culture of this?

Nope not here. Is there a difference or benefits on use of the brown as apposed to the green?

Green is a weed: easy to grow, can feed rotifers, not ideal for coral. You need to add supplements for coral feeding this lacks the nutrients your corals need.
