colt coral melting!!!!

hey guys this started last night....checked my paramters...nitrates a little high but not bad...did a water change...cleaned it off and today this is what it looks like again....

what should i do ??? cut the sections off that are melting....leave it???

man this thing was about 15" tall and atleast 16-17" across now its so small and sick looking in just a few days!!!

any help would be great!!!

My colt coral will close up like that and look much worse than yours. It will stay that way for a couple of days (or more) and then it will shed the outer layer of tissue. I blast the old tissue away with a turkey baster and usually within the day, the coral is back to normal. It doesn't seem to do this based on any change in parameters, more like something it just needs to do every so often. It always fully recovers.

Iodine i do test for and dose because I have a brain coral and he loves it when I dose it!!

it appears to be getting worse and just on one section i am thinking of chopping it off before it spreads to the rest of the coral....several branches are completely gone this morning...
