Brand of salt

All salt mixes vary in Alk, mag, calcium etc..levels. You need to find the one that best fits your parameter needs and budget. It's best to find a brand that works for you and stick with it vs. jumping around from brand to brand IMO.

Very true. Next to Nitrates and Phosphates, Alkalinity spikes are the cause of coral stress. Let's say you keep your Alk n Cal naturally high because you have clams and such. Say 11 DKH. You would go with something like Instant Ocean Reef Crystals. Or Red Sea Coral Pro. Those two salts tend to have a high Alk content that matches your current parameters. Another example. Let's say you run Biopellet ULNS. And you keep your dkh a lot lower. Say 8.5 DKH. Then you would go for a salt with lower Alk content like Salinity. Using a high Alkalinity salt mix would stress your corals and kill them. So that's why you ideally want to stay within your params. That is one reason so many people have mixed reviews on so many salt brands. Oh this brand killed my corals. This brand doesn't have as nice colors etc etc. Theres a website you can go. Just Google it. It'll list the salt specs. Then you can decide which salt you prefer depending on the system you have and budget. Good luck. Hope that helps
