Finally! I am able to start my "dream" tank!
I went from a 30g to 55g to 115g to 150g....then came a move across the metroplex. I saved a piece of almost everything in my tank, along with a couple fish. Unfortunately, 90% of the livestock died.
I asked for help taking care of what little I had left, and fortunately a member on DFWmas came through for me (Thanks Peter!).
I eventually snagged a very nice 65g tank from this forum and started to slowly build the livestock back up.
After about a year, the wife, baby and I were in a good position to start the permanent tank . I looked around the forums and Craigslist, even purchased a 150g (wife vetoed on grounds of it was "too small" ). SO, I finally gave in and decided to go all in on having the permanent tank built.
My 115g was a DAS and I loved the workmanship and woodwork on the stand, so I had them build the tank. I wanted at least a 8ft long tank, and they certainly came through. I ended up going with their DECO 280 and saved a bit of money vs the complete custom I had in mind.
Halfway through the build, DAS called and asked if I minded an extra 2" on the length (bringing tank to 98")....of course not!! Hence the final 290g capacity.
About 6 weeks after the start of the build, DAS delivered the tank.
