I am dealing with cotton candy algae in one display ... I have have read Mexican turbo snails are good options for this ..., I have purchased astress ... Are these different animals? I usually like to order snails thru reeftopia or kp aquatics and they don't list Mexican turbo snails

Thanks

Yes they are different. Astrae have a cone shaped shell and the turbos have a more rounded shell. IME Mexican turbos are better algae munchers. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/aquarium-fish-supplies.cfm?c=497+526

And they are much bigger snails, like bulldozers in fact.

DNA usually has them for $3.99 ea if you buy 3 or more. Plus, you get your 10% discount.

They are good at cleaning up, but like Marc said, they are bulldozers. I moved all mine to the sump. Got tired of them breaking off coral that were glued down very well to the rock work. It's amazing what these guys can knock over.
