I am starting a 220 build, tank stand and canopy showed up yesterday. First step is to paint the cabinetry. I am going to paint it white to match the living room. At this point I have nothing for this tank, I will need to get plumbing parts for it after I paint the stand and canopy. Here’s the first pictures of the 220gal Luxury RV Resort.

You sure that is a planet aquariums tank...I have never seen them using that type of overflow and usually I have always seen them with PVC bottom not glass bottom.

Nice build. If you don't mind can you forward me the vendor you used for the cabinetry.

Thanks
RB

LFS had it made for another person and that fell through. Lucky me, I picked it up cheap and unfinished. I want it white not stained so this was perfect for me. I can check with them and see who they used.

Started working on the cabinetry. I set up a temporary paint booth in my garage and laid down one coat of primer on the stand.

Big news for the day is I made some decisions on equipment. Lance is starting to build a custom sump for me, we agreed to a design and I am really looking forward to it. I have never had a truly custom sump before. This should make life a lot easier. I also had some pretty lengthy conversations with Reef Dynamics and decided on two of their products. My skimmer with be the INS350 and I also ordered a bio-pellet reactor, the BPR250. These are hand built to order it will take about a month to get them. I also ordered a new RO/DI + drinking water unit from BRS. I am very excited about these new tools!

Time to spray some more primer.

I cut the holes for the 2 overflows today

And I got some plumbing parts in the mail

Why are you buying a new skimmer just find a used euro - reef they are the same skimmer they just changed brand names. Design hasn't changed dramatically over 7-8 years

Easier. I had a euroreef before and am aware it's the same co.

I had a euroreef they were great skimmers but for price listed $899 they are more efficient and cheaper alternatives.

Other than that nice build you have more patience than me I would had water and a coral in the tank the second the tank was in the house

Still painting. This is my 2nd coat of paint on top of 1coat primer, then 1 coat paint (slightly wrong color), then I sanded some and primed again. When I am done this thing is going to look nice. Oh course it may be 2014 at this rate. My skimmer and bio-pellet reactor shipped!

I received my skimmer and bio-pellet reactor. Nice pieces of equipment. I didn't appreciate the scale of the skimmer from it's spec dimensions, it's big.

Update: Lance finished the sump, great work! Some nice attention to detail with tinted pieces of acrylic, etc. I also dry fit the main plumbing.

I still need to make the dual "Herbie" drains the correct height. I also do not like the way the threaded gate valves are threading into regular PVC. I tried SCH 80 also and it acted the same, becomes really difficult to tighten about 1/2 the way on. I may switch the valves out for slip connectors and just glue them in. Other than that I am ready to start gluing PVC and testing. Getting closer to water.

I decided to stay with the threaded gate valves since they operate so smoothly. I used the thread sealant below; I had it on hand from installing my RODI + drinking water solution a few months ago.

and 2 pipe wrenches to get them completely threaded. No worries now. I will start gluing the slip connectors soon.
