To remove or not to remove - overflow from DAS 115

UPDATE: I removed the box from the aquarium. Had to use a "slim jim" (No, not the beef jerky kind) to get behind it and get through the silicone attaching it to the glass. Seems that there were two horizontal stripes of silicone (inch or so from top and bottom back surface) and four globs on the bottom of the box. Of course, there was also silicone around the top edge holding it firmly to the glass as well. Maybe this will help someone else in the future.

Thanks for the replies.

I am trying to decide if the overflow box in the 115 DAS I just purchased is useful or should I remove it?
I really don't see any benefits of keeping it and it takes up SOOO much space.

If anyone has removed one of these huge things please let me know. I can't tell if there is silicone on the back of the box since the back of the tank is painted.

Any experience with this and do's and don'ts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time!
