Sand bed swap?

This past Feb. I set-up my 200 with Agri-live Hawaiian Black sand.. I like the contrast vs. my corals but hate the coarse grade. I'm considering slowly going bare bottom and eventually going back with my Florida sand. Currently it's about 1 1/2" deep. Should I do it quicker rather than slower? Since it's only 6 months old? Thoughts?

I would think that 6 months is enough time that you now want to go slow with the swap. What about maybe start siphoning sand out of the tank a little at a time while doing water changes?

I do 10-15% WC every two weeks. Would take about 5 waterchanges to go "Bare Bottom". The other thought would be replacing it with "Live" sand I'll collect in Destin, Fl. (10hr drive back) all at once. I've set-up numerous tanks like this with no "Cycling" at all. Only wish I would have done this one that way from the start.
