[I apologize for the 'oddity' of this question in advance.
I don't know any carpenters to ask.

I have a wooden canopy over my aquarium that is only about
1/4" shy of being able to fit the desired light I have purchased.

The canopy is 3/4" thick and all I need to do is take 1/4 or 1/8th off, trimmed on the inside, for the light to fit. I tried using a sander today
but, quickly realized it will take a LONG time for this effort.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance]

[How about marking that area that specifically well be in contact with the lights (endcaps?) and then chisel that 1/4" out like you would to recess a door hinge or doorknob strike plate?]
