Phosguard and dipped calcium/alkalinity

So I finally added phosguard to my system after not using it since last December ... I measured my levels today after two weeks of phosguard and noticed a pretty good drop in both calcium and alkalinity ... I have noticed a big increase in the sps colors and wonder if the drop is due to increased sps growth or could it be the phosguard?? I don't recall reading about any issues with that though
 
Could be both a drop in phosphates which is causing your corals to use more to grow.

That was what I was thinking but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something with how phosguard works
