overflow calculations

I am working on a custom tank design ... are there any rules that tell how much flow an internal overflow can handle ... corner version ... I am planning on 2 1" bulkheads with the Herbie system ... in other words, 8" of overflow linear length equals how many gallons per hour?

If memory serves me correctly, I'm thinking each 1" bulkhead can handle roughly 900-1,000 GPH.

I don't remember it off hand, but look up the wier flow rate calculations somewhere like ReefCentral or MonsterFishKeepers. The flow per inch of a toothless wier really comes down to how high over the edge you're willing to let the water build up. Also, try to avoid long horizontal runs and sharp bends in your piping.
