I have a white tubular sponge growing up one of my rocks and into my corals. I want to know is there such thing as a nuisance sponge, what does it do as far as usefulness in my tank, if I trim it back will it release toxins or anything? It looks kinda neat and weird but I dunno it looks like a big stationary worm with tubes that are continuing upward. So far it is moving into frogspawn and ricordia and I haven't seen ill effects but I want to make sure as it is spreading on another rock on the other side of the tank. I don't know how it got there I haven't done anything to the tank. Any thoughts or anyone want some?

Angelfish eat sponge, but not every kind. This kind? Does no harm and you can ignore them: http://www.melevsreef.com/id/scypha.html

Harmless filter feeder.

Well I was thinking about a flame but I'm going to cut some of it back this weekend it's spreading too fast so if anybody wants some let me know. I have heard people who keep moorish idols always need sponge too. I have plenty.
