new live sand

i bought new live sand and thought the purpose of this was so the sand dont go threw a cycle? but it is starting to get brown on top ever so slightly

All new tanks and sand will go through a cycle the good part about the live sand is that it helps minimize the cycle.

well it isnt really a new tank it is plumbed into my other one

It will still do a little cycling. You need bacteria to build up in the new sand as well as the on parts of the glass, and throughout the plumbing.
Especially since you just added new water to the system.

ok i was going to add a cup from the other tank to it and vise averse

That can help. Take a couple cups from the main tank, and swirl it into the new tank. You don't need to take any from the prop tank, unless you just feel like it. Keep in mind, new lighting will also cause algae blooms.

ya i dont know how old the bulb is but it still getting ok par compared to my new bulbs

What kind of bulb is it? Par can sometimes remain the same, but the spectrum can go wayyyy off depending on the type of bulb and the age.

it dont have any writing on it i am going to get another new one anyways
