Need input on ph meter

[Hi All
I need some input on a PH meter, what kind do you have, where did you get it, Is it "flakey" can you replace the probe, does it come with calibration solution? I know you get what you pay for. I don't want to spend $10 less and get a piece of junk. Thanks in advance
Joe]

[Phillp that is a nice pH probe.

I have the Hanna hand held so I can test aquariums also.
The probe is replaceable and I had to buy the 2 solutions to calabrate it but didn't need calibrating as it was right on and they state that when you buy it. "pre-calibrated"
I test in the sump area as I have heard the lights on the aquarium can give you mis-reading. It did not happen on my setup but it has happened.

I think I bought this from Dr. Foster and Smith but it was some time ago. On the web page here it is 59.00 I paid like 42.00.

Some other places that have it- wow the price is jumping up.

[I have the same one as Nautilus and am happy with it. I overpaid cause I bought it local though :( $98 + calibraton fluid....but I had it "right now" lol]

[I've used the same one as Phillip for the past year or two and love it. I keep them running 24 hours a day so I can see the pH anytime. It is one of the best tools for a reef tank, because I don't trust a single pH test kit out there - including Salifert.

I always ran mine off 9v batteries, as I've heard that using the a/c adaptor will somethings give false readings.

Keep in mind that the probe must always be kept wet, or it will be ruined and thusly replaced. If you want to conserve the battery, just turn off the unit until you need to look at it again. It takes less than 5 seconds to give you a reading when you turn it on again. Calibration is a breeze, and if you can't calibrate it, that is when you have to replace the probe. Probes are good for 1 year - but I've had them last longer.]

[I also use the pinpoint meter which I run on the battery too. My previous meter was run on the ac adapter and a power surge zapped my meter and probe. I have been using that type of meter for a 1.5 yrs and totally happy with it.]

[It turns out I never use the ac adapter. I have two tanks and 44 gal trash can for mixing saltwater so I am always moving the ph meter around. :D]

[I am going to have to start running my pinpoint ph meter off a battery if it is true about the inaccuracy while on the A/C adapter.

I have already switch my pinpoint salinity meter to battery because on the adapter it bounces around by .5 ms but is stable when on battery.

That was a waste of $17 dollars. Anybody need adapter? Maybe I can use them to run some moonlights. :)]

Plus most guys are green color blind and can't tell what the pH test kits are telling them anyway.

The meter I have has paid for it's self several times over.
This plus the refractometer are a must have item IMO.]

[Marine Depot had the Pinpoint PH monitor on sale a couple of months ago for $71.00, I believe. I am kicking myself for not ordering one then. I am hoping they will put them on sale again.]
