Need help with lighting and canopy

Was wondering if I should go with t-5s for VHO for my 50gallon corner tank. Also was wondering if anybody have any advice on how I should build my canopy beside with a screwdriver and some screws :). And if I do build my canopy, how would i mount my lights? Tank is 31 inches tall

You could make the canopy with 22.5 degree cuts. I did that for Glenn's tank years ago:

well the lighting realy depends on what kind of coral you are going to put in the tank.t-5s are energy eficant but your tank is deep so you would probably need 6-8 bulbs maybe for sps coral vhos you would need like 4-5 bulbs for sps thats what i think would be good.
 
Actually the HO (high output) T5's have the best penetration and have par ratings nearly equal to (and in some cases equal to) MH. They also run a lot cooler than any of the other lighting types (except maybe the new LED setups).
