Many of you might not deal with this situation, but, I thought I would share ... I like to run my vortech mp40s close to the water surface ... two reasons ...
1. my tank is fairly shallow so I need to run it higher in order to create good undertow
2. in case of a power outage, I like for my mp40's that are on battery back-up to actually suck some air in
In order to accomplish the two reasons above, I can't run the mp40's without sucking in air normally at times when it ramps up to full speed. In my other system I use the pico aquarium shields for my mp10s, but, they didn't offer them for the mp40. Fortunately, after some emails, I sent them a wetside to work off of and they created me two custom mp40 shields ... both in black acrylic which will keep the algae off of them.
I am pretty excited about this and thought you guys might find it useful.
