Who is using what in their reactors to supplement magnesium and where are you getting it?

Thanks

I don't add any Mg supplements to my reactor. I just use RHF's Magflake recipe to buffer my water change water and toadd to my system when my levels need to be raised.

It can be purchased online.

I use ZeoMag (what Steve said above) in mine. Works well to make sure it doesn't drop below 1200, but have had trouble keeping my Mg above 1300. So still keep some other Mg products on hand for occasional dosing.

The product recommends putting in 5-10% of CaX capacity. I am near 20% right now. May just be that I have my pH tuned a little high.

Ditto with the ZeoMag here.

I never have to dose it now. Spar, what kind of media are you using? If you are using ARM or other small sized media then you may very well just not have the pH low enough to melt the stuff.

Schuran Media, the big chunk kind.

I have my pH set at 6.4. The unit recommends 6.2. But I am also replacing 100% of my evaporation with Kalk water, so relieves a lot of the necessity of lowering my pH for the calcium purpose. Think if I slowed down my drip and lowered the pH that would help the Mg melting?

That's odd. You can try lowering the pH. I have mine at 6.7pH out of the second chamber and it maintains mine at about 1350 no issues with ~15%. It probably does have to do with the fact that your not using the reactor for all supplementation

Zeovit Magnesium. Purchased it at MACNA. But you can get it from http://www.captiveoceans.com/products-nonzeosupplements.html It does not take much. said:

From the link above. Couldn't find it anywhere else personally.

Sorry digging up an old thread but i have a question about ARM media and Mg.

I have read a couple places that the ARM Media Course has Mg in it....is there enough to keep the MG levels correct?

If not does the ZeoMag and ARM course melt at the same ph?

I use Arm Coarse and Zeomag and mine and they both melt fine. All of them melt around the 7.0 range but really do well in the 6.5 range.

All the medias are going to have some MG in them because it's mostly just crushed coral. None that I know of though have enough to maintain levels by themselves. I put about 10% ZEOMag in with mine and only have to adjust really rarely now like every couple months I might add just a bit. I keep supplement around to add to newly mixed saltwater if i need to.
