Macro or rock only

I've always kept some macro algae in my sump but before my move I had a ton of dino's in my sump. So I decided to keep it dark for a month then add some cheato well it's back.

Here is the question how many people keep rock only refugiums or should I battle through this.

The great thing here is, if the problem is only in the fuge you can pull all rock & macro out. Clear up the dinos and place it all back (new macro of course). It will be colonized rather quickly. Also, try to find the cause of the dinos. I have a bit of the same problem, but mine is reoccuring aptasia.
