JRM’s Cade Reef 900 S2 Build

I‘m enjoying your build thread and like your scape as well, looking forward to watching it fill out.
I'm coming off of a decade old tank that was really hands off. Big colonies, old fish, stable. Now I have to deal with this newborn. The problem with stability is you get used to there being no problems. HAHA!

It's still exciting!!!

Thought I’d share a photo Michelle took this morning from the left side. Everything seems to be doing well so far. I’m just waiting for the other foo to drop 😂. Sent in another ICP test and will share the results / comparison later this weekend.

The ICP results were very similar to the previous results. Iodine is almost nonexistent so I may try to add a little and see what happens. All of the corals look to be fine and are growing.

On a side note I think there’s something taking out my fish or they’re all getting stuck in the same crevice, which isn’t likely. We’ve lost about a half a dozen and we’re out of the fish business until we can find a predator to eat crabs and shrimp. So far we’ve lost (1) mandarin, (1) Anthias, (2) tangs, (1) fox face and another fish.

If anyone has a suggestion for a predator I’d greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Everything seems to be moving forward nicely except for our rock work. We bought some larger colonies and found out that we did a horrible job of epoxying our rock together. We’ll be redoing our rock work and cutting up some of the acro colonies this week / next weekend. I still need to organize the fish room as well…7EF76CF6-4499-41E1-BC08-5E5CD4A4361A.jpeg9CB94B42-531A-4EC4-B0C8-AD540BBBD3DF.jpegC1F1FC2F-C124-4721-8FFE-DAA4C1915DAB.jpeg9CB94B42-531A-4EC4-B0C8-AD540BBBD3DF.jpeg0656E850-2CD1-4778-9692-D20DF65BDF17.jpeg2980CDB9-2052-408F-967B-BE289220D8AB.jpeg

We found a mantis shrimp that’s about an inch and a half long. We aren’t sure if this is the one taking the fish out but they’ve all been next to or in where the mantis resides.IMG_9009.jpegIMG_0662.jpegIMG_0658.jpeg
