I have seen several videos where a person is able to control their fish tank equipment from their iphone. I have an iphone and I have a tank so in the simplest (I’m not and IT professional) terms how is this done? What hardware and software is needed? I’m thinking there needs to be a control device on my tank so can it be any control device? Thanks!

I believe you're talking about the Neptunes aqua controllers. They have a feature built in that can be controlled by an app run thru your iPhone/iPad.

I controll my reef keeper lite through my iPhone I can change everything on it I just use remote desktop app and login in the reef 2.0 program

the reef keeper lite and the aqua controller jr require a dedicated computer to keep them online but the reef keeper elite and the neptune apex have ethernet built in. it just how much are you willing to spend thats all. both of them have apps on iOS and i believe android also.
