The other day I noticed my Yellow Tang clearing off some algae and didn't think anything off it and then all of a sudden I see something move. Sticking out of a patch of zoa's looks like a clam, muscle or oyster. I cleared off the zoas and reviled a shelled creature approximately 1/2". I can see a flap of some nature inside, but it doesn't protrude past the shell. When I try to shine a light in it, it closes immediately. I have had this rock for 2+ years and have never noticed anything like this. I have also never had any clams in my tank. Is anybody familiar with their reproduction? Does take a while for clams to start pushing out their mantle? or is it some type of mussel or oyster?
I will post a picture from my phone in the next post. I shot it in black and white as I couldn't get the color right with the actintics on.
