At the bottom of the main editor screen (not the Quick Post box, the advanced editor) you'll see "Upload attachment." Navigate to your image, select it, and then click "Add the file". You can add several to a post. Then click Submit.
Personally, I prefer to use the "Place Inline" option, but you need to make sure the cursor is in the right spot of the editor before you click it.
If your images are too big (file size and pixel-wise), you should resize it to something web-ready like 1024x960 and maybe 200k in size.
