Dow Styrofoam IN tank?

So, we just moved to a wonderful new home, and I'm just getting the tank full of water and running again. Problem is, I've added some Dow Styrofoam insulation under the tank and now my return pump is about 1/4" off the bottom of the sump. Has anyone ever used the Dow Styrofoam IN the water? It would be perfect if I could put a chunk of it under the pump to resolve the gap and provide a vibration dampener at the same time.

I would use some filter pads instead, like the kind sold for Eheim gear. Cut to shape, slide it under the pump and eat up that gap. It's cheap and lasts forever. Take it out to rinse out any trapped crud from time to time.

If pond foam is ok after drying then I see no issue with doing this. May want to do a quick pass with a lighter to seal the edges so you don't get any tiny bit's up in DT, where it could be ingested by fish.

Cheers,
