Dead Coral

I have a question...

I have been putting dead coral (dead or broken of pieces that died) in my sump. Am I creating a nitrate sink or will anaerobic (sp?) bacteria colonize the coral. I am not sure if the pores are varied enough...

I also had a brain die on me (not the one in my head)and when I took it from the tank it had a bad odor like a dead snail..that tells me it is polluting my system

looking for a wealth of knowledge and opinions on this..

ps..my thoughts are i should remove it...

I got all kinds of skeletons in my sump..

As long as all of the flesh is gone and it is just a skeleton there should be no issues.

well first thing i hope they dont die :sad: $$$$ lol but if they do i just throw them in the sump with rubble rock

They are porous so they will add the same bacteria homes that LR does. Of course, with lots of them in there, it will provide a home to detritus and stuff, so just like with LR, you should blow it out occasionally and suck out any gunk.

If you ever get a calcium reactor, you can break them up and use them in there too as many people do.
