Cycling Tank w/ Shrimp

I hope I am not beating up an old topic because I searched the board and didnt find much info. I want to start the cycle of my tank with a dead shrimp. But first I have a couple questions. What kind of shrimp? How many do I used for a 120G tank? I am afraid if I throw them in the tank my vortechs will eventually just chop them up. So, if anyone has experience with this method please help out. Or, give me any ideas for a better method.

just grab a couple salad/cocktail shrimps from the grocery store and if you are worried about them blowing around, clip them with a tank veggie clip or throw them in a carbon bag. let them sit for a couple days to a week and then remove them once you detect the amonia risining.

You can also put the shrimp in your sump to prevent it from blowing around your tank.
