Compression fitting questions

Does anyone know the direction the two small plastic pieces are suppost to face inside a Jaco compression fitting? I pulled out the tubing to my kent float valve and the compression fitting came off. There's two little plastic pieces in the fitting and I'm not sure which direction they need to go back in when I screw it back on the valve.

I called Jaco a minute ago and they were extremly helpfull. The two pieces have a tapered ends and the tech support told me that the two tapered ends should be facing away from each other, but they recommend replacing the unit if the disassembly comes out because of the plastic. He asked me to send some pictures of the nut so he could verify the model and then they would send me some replacements.

I'll still take some pics, so hopefully this will help someone in the future.
