Clam problems

I have mysteriously lost two of my larger clams this past week and I have no clue what happen. One was about 4 inches and the other around 7. I’ve had them for a year plus. I’m worried because I still have 4 other clams. Any ideas

Carl... that has happened to me as well in the past. Have you added any new ones the last 3 or 4 weeks?

Did the clams that died have new shell growth? I read an article last week about mystery clam death. I will try to find it and post the link. One of the questions is if they have new shell growth. Clams can be in declining health and show very little signs untill they are all of a sudden gaping. One key is new shell growth.

Thanks guys, yea I had shell groth and no new clams has been added in the last three months.

Sounds like a mystery. You could pm Chris and Barb and see if they can provide some insight.
