OK I got my 29 BIO and I just drilled the back of it towards the top. clean through..
I got my bulk head the question is can i just plumb strait down to the sump or do I need to do something fancy in the tank...

I have decided to do a slow return from the sump... That way the water will trikle more then anything ...

Bulkhead is 3/4"

Any links with Pictures would be fine..
 
Only thing I would suggest would be a durso type drain from the overflow, when you do your 90 downward, use a T and run an inch or so up with straight pvc and put a cap with a nice hole in the top.

Might not be a bad idea to use a stainer on the inside, just to keep any large debris out of the drain itself. If you put nori or macro algae in there, or (knock on wood) get any bryopsis or hair algae, you wouldn't want it to clog it up. Might also prevent a sleeping or absent-minded fish from taking a ride.
