Benefit to Serial Port on Controller

I am needing to get a controller. I would like to keep it as cheap as possible. I have the option of getting one with a serial port. But, it will be 10% less to get it without the serial port. My wife thinks it is unnecessary and doesn't want our old CPU out by the tank. Is there any real benefit to the serial port other than having a neat sig?

Just Aquanotes.. it has some nice graphs and databases, and it's easier to modify your programming via its interface. Even if you only hook up a pc to do the programming and then disconnect it, for me, it's worth it. Using 3 buttons to modify a big program is painful.

Hehe get the serial port or get the AC3 with the Ethernet port (Wireless). I feel there one of the most important tools. You can collect the data 24/7 and it will help you understand temp and ph trends and allow you adjust your tank accordingly during seasons and etc.

Oh and I agree with Scott too... It would be a pain to progam all the settings with the buttons.
