Anyone have any experiance they can share with this online retailer in livestock? I am very interested in purchasing a fish from them, but I am a bit concerned that the picture they have posted for the fish I want is correct, but the scientific name and description is for a similar/related fish and not accurate. I spoke to them over the phone and the info they gave me seems to contradict what I have ben reading on the web.

Here is the link: http://www.aquacon.com

Thanks in Advance!

For what I am looking for, I am willing to pay the extra $29.99 for shipping. But, I won't be happy if I do not get the fish I am expecting.

Aquacon has a horrid reputation.. read some of the posts in this search. They have a number of affiliate sites as well so be careful.

Are there any direct links? I can get the search function to work for me. I am getting this message:

Sorry. The search function has been temporarily disabled due to high server load. Please try your search again in a few minutes. Other site features will still be functional.

What fish are you looking for that can't be found locally??

I am trying to find a Candy Basslet. They have the Pacific variety listed in the description, but I am looking for the one actually pictured.

I would not order anything from them!
A lot of people have been taken by them. I ordered from them 3 years ago. Lucky I reversed the charges through my credit card after my corals didn't show up for 2 weeks.

I agree with what most of the people above have said.
This is one of the worst companies out there, and you should be extremly cautious before ordering from them.

After some research...... I am finding that is the consensus. I have my doubts I would be getting the correct fish. I have only found one place that properly lists the correct name/description of the fish with an accurate picture. They are out of stock and the fish costs almost $800. Out of my budget!

Does the fish look different from different locations? It is listed twice on aquacons site and the other picture isn't near as nice as the first picture. I did read on a forum that they are very shy and stay hidden a lot of the time.

These are the three different one I have seen talked about on the net:

Candy Basslet (Western Atlantic/Carribean) - Liopropoma carmabi
Pacific Candy Basslet - Liopropoma swalesi
Swissguard/Peppermint Basslet (Western Atlantic/Carribean) - Liopropoma rubre

aquacon ripped me off, i never recieved my livestock. They never refunded me, after 4 months my bank refunded me and then took up a claim with them.

After doing some research, it looks like you have picked a very hard to get fish. Good luck with finding one. You might want to contact LiveAquaria and see if they can get one and find out the price. From what I've seen on RC they will look for hard to get fish. Also, you might call some of the divers/sellers that sell the cleanup crews from Florida. They might have connections and can get you one.

I'm almost positive I'm wrong, but that first picture you posted for the
Candy Basslet looks an aweful lot like a Swissguard Basslet....

Well it might be worth it to give them a call and see if they can get it. Otherwise, talk to Helen at Fish2Morrow because there isn't a fish I've asked for so far that she couldn't get.

I believe DNA had various Basslets at there May Sale last year. You may want to check with the guys up there. Probably ask Sean, Jason, Mike or Cole if they can track one down.

They have Candy Basslets for $799  Pre order only.

There's a group buy in the "group buy" section for Marine Garden going on for Coco worms as well. I'm sure they'll be able to sqeeze this small order for you as well. :D
