Anyone ever used Acrylic rods for aquascaping Rock?

Basically I got some solid 3/4" acrylic Rod and cut it up. Took a 3/4" masonry bit and drilled into the live rock, amid some punctures in my fingers I think I got the rockwork much better then normal when you stack it.

Tank is cloudy at the moment, but I hope it looks good, no piles of rock for me!

Of course a 90 is hard to aquascape in anyways.

I have done that and zip ties, both work really well and allow you to get that one shape you coudnt quite get naturally
 
I went with the acrylic for its strength, ease of cutting and the size, 3/4" is perfect.

Im still waiting for the silt to settle so I can see how it looks, lol it looked good outside of the tank.
