any way to mesh-mod a mag drive pump?

Is there any way to mesh-mod a mag drive pump?

I have a Kent Nautilus Skimmer with one of the vernturis that goes on the intake of the pump and sucks air into the pump intake,

want to mesh-mod it to get some better bubble action.

I know how to mod needle wheel pumps, but don't know how to with a reg impeller...

Anyone?

I don't know if this will work, but you could probably drill a ton of tiny holes in the impellar blades to cause tiny bubbles to be made.

EEEK!!! Sorry. :)

Do a search on RC, if anyone has done a mesh mod on a Mag Pump, someone over there will have done it and posted about it. Personally I haven't seen one, but I don't hang out in the DYI forum over there often.

I've seen impellars turned into swiss cheese before, including Maxijets. This wouldn't be much different, as long as the plastic isn't too weakened.

A few guys have dremeled away most of each paddle, leaving a tiny sliver to affix some mesh to it. It seemed like it would work, but I couldn't imagine it lasting too long. Maybe a few months, tops.

You can buy Mag Drive pumps with fractionating impellors now. http://www.marinedepot.com/Danner_Model_18_Supreme_1800_GPH_Pump_w_Fractionating_Impeller_Over_1000_Gallons_Per_Hour_Submersible_Water_Pumps-Danner_Mfg.-DN1159-FIWPSBTO-DN1171-vi.html I do not know if you can buy just the impellor or if they fit the regular pumps.
