In all of my 15yrs of reefing, I've never seen such a weird looking thing. Like its half slug half snail.it has a huge body that is too small for the shell and the shell is more clam like. I've seen him before inside the rock work spitting a lot of white stuff, as if it where looking to mate. This time I got him under my frag rack.

Anyone knows what this is? Is it safe?

One of the best snails out there IMO. Gotta love a snail that'll breed in captivity that actually eats algae.

Wes is right. Enjoy. http://melevsreef.com/critters/stomatella

I love mine!! They stay out of view during the day for the most part, blend in nicely with the rocks and clean all over corals without knocking anything over!

Agree, I have a couple that came in as hitchhikers and they seem to clean a lot better than my other snails. Hopefully they'll multiply.
