Skimmer has leak - Is it broken or not? and how to fix?

[I finally got the motivation to hook up my skimmer, took 2 trips to Home Depot, worked out all the plumming leaks, and noticed that there's a slow leak in the skimmer itself.

First, is that normal?
Second, is it fixable?
Third, if fixable, how?

The leak is inbetween the top part of the black section and the plastic part that is not detachable (IE: not the very top cup part that is removable).

I also noticed that the water level never went higher than the top part of the non-removable section. Is this normal? I would have thought the water level would have to get quite a bit higher in order to put any "skim" in the cup part. Its also possible that it didnt get very high because I tested my setup in a blue tub full of clean salt-water so would not have any skim to skim out. The skimmer did seem to airate or agitate the water ok enough.

Other info - I had a maxi-jet 900 hooked up to it with about 2 feet of plastic tubing going to the input part and nothing attached to the output tubing.

Thanks.]

[What kind of skimmer is that? How does air get into it to create the bubbles?]

[HI
That kind of looks like the JEBO skimmer I got.
I have never noticed mine leaking but then it is
an in the sump skimmer so I never really look and
the direction say it needs a 500gpm pump your
maxi 900 is nowhere near that.

Marc not shown in the picture it draws air through
a veturi in the pump inlet on the left tube from the pump.
Hope that helps

[It is a Queen Turbo Protein Skimmer Specialist TS-2000. Joe is correct, there is an air inlet that is not shown on the picture.

I have a mag 5 that I can use. But I'm sure it would still leak.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.]

[Can you see the crack itself or know where its leaking? You may be able to patch it up with some thick weld-on.

I'd browse over to RC and ask Acrylicman in the DIY forum, hes pretty well versed in acrylic]
