Adjustable surface skimmer and external overflow box done. My jeabo 6000 is in for my return pump and the reeflo hammerhead/barracuda is in for the closed loop. Ops fully can get some water in this thing over the long weekend!

It's been a while, but we are back on track. Long story short, we were ironing out some details regarding flooring in the new house so we decided not to set the tank up until all was hashed out.

Plumbing done. Sand is UNDER the bottoms pane of the tank. Bare bottom benefits with the aesthetics of a sand bed. Water test tonight. No I was worried about keeping it level that way. I made a cut out and epoxied sand onto the board. Then I slid the tank back about 4 inches and worked the board under the tank.

Was a PITA but it turned out well...thankfully

Thanks Laser!

Ran into a couple bumps in the road with the closed loop. Basically it kept cavitating and sucking air. The intake equals the outflow, but the location of the intake caused some problems. We have the intake drawing from the overflow box in the back (which we knew could be an issue upfront, but like most guys, had to try it anyway lol) Long story short with a bit of ingenuity, we figured it out and it's working well now.

Just built a removable lid for the skimmer box and the overflow box in the back. One piece that lifts right off. Should prevent things from jumping in and also help muffle any sound of water in the back. Came up with the idea last night with my buddy. Now the water just overflows through that tiny slit. The top is the same smoke acrylic as the skimmer box, just left the paper on it for now. Will need to cut a hole so the middle Kessil can still be mounted (I'll get to that tomorrow). Everything has been moved over from the old set up after a 5 week cycle. Finished the cycle just over a week ago.
