Reproducing worms?

I swear last night I saw 2 worms doing it.

My tank just finished cycling. I can't keep my nose out of there looking for stuff to show up. Last night while peeking in the tank out of the corner of my eye I noticed a mysterious milky substance floating in the water.

After looking around I finally noticed 2-3 different worms coming WAY out of thier hole and releasing stuff into the water. One of the substances appeared to be little eggs. It was a reddish brown color. 1 minute later the other worm appeard and sprayed the milky substance. I watched them do this 2-3 times.

It was FREAKY and facinating all at the same time.

That would be a spawning event. Crazy and interesting. If you ever see it again, you will see it occur tank-wide. Worms everywhere will all do the same, as if on cue.

Do you think any of them will make it? I don't have any corals, fish or inverts in the tank yet.... Until tomorrow.

Perhaps some might make it, but I've never really given it any consideration. As far as I'm concerned, anything spawned in the tank is food for others or the skimmer's job to extract.

Of course... how do you think you get more worms than you started with? :) Most will die in one form or another, eaten, skimmed or otherwise chopped up.
