Pump cleaning.

I picked up some Hydor magi-clean to clean my pumps and other items that need coraline algae removal and it worked fantastic. soak for about 20 mins, and they require very little scrubbing. I was wondering if there are any house hold chemicals that would do the same thing, with messing up my pumps. And cheaper than $14 for 3 cleanings.

You can spray hydrogen peroxide on most anything to remove algae of any kind but I typically use vinegar at about 40%.

The hottest water I can get from the tap plus cheap white vinegar at 50/50 or so. I am much less likely to injure myself with that vs. muriatic acid and you can't beat the price.
I think I have some of the magi-clean from Nextwave that I will try though. Just don't have anything I need to de calcify yet.

I fill up a 5 gallon salt bucket with 5050 vinegar and water and store it in the garage with a lid on. It stores well as long as you keep it tightly sealed.
