Phosphates

Hi guys, I'm curious about phosphates. I understand they're a bad thing to have in your tank In fresh, we would grow plants which sucked up the phosphates, prune them and remove it from the system that way. Is using chaeto the same principle in sast? Trim it as it grows in your fuge to remove phosphates from the system?

Yes, Chaeto does remove Phosphate, but you need to find the source of the high Phosphates and treat the issue.

Chaeto will only remove 1 part phosphates to 10 parts nitrate, so if you have high nitrates the Chaeto isn't gonna really help you. Do a you tube search for Phos RX. Marc did a video on it, it my be on his site http://www.melevsreef.com it works really well.

Phosphate Rx is awesome. I dosed on Jan 19th, and then again last Friday, 10 weeks later. It works overnight, dropping them back to 0. ;)

I would recommend running GFO in a reactor 24/7, works well, an oversized skimmer is also essential.
