My New SRO-3000 Skimmer

I got my Super Reef Octopus 3000 Skimmer today.
This thing is way bigger than I expected and I had to make a stand for it,
I just used some left over 1 1/4 PVC, 4 1 1/4 Ts, a little bit of light defuser,
and some zip ties. When I was trying to get the stand I just built, I pushed
too much on my drain line and broke the bulkhead, water was going every
freaking where...got a nice little shock since it splashed on my sump light too.
After shutting off my return and all the water drained out of the over flow, I was
able to finally get the skimmer in my sump after some modifications to my
drain line and emergency drain line. I am very impressed with this skimmer!
Right after plugging it in, it had a really thick foam and started to skim.
Here are a few pics...enjoy because I know I am!

Thanks! I am like a little kid again at Christmas with my new toy!
The manual says it is gonna take 3-4 weeks for it to be broken in,
do you think this is true?

Here are a few pics, almost 24 hrs after install.
I also changed my lighting on the sump/refugium to 2
clip on lights that I mounted to the bottom of my stand
and allowed them to hang there.

Very nice. Looks like it's got some great foaming action. I'm gonna be in the market for a new skimmer soon, so I may have to check these out.

Drew I did lots of homework before spending the cash on the SRO-3000.
Even though it is just $399 (a bargain for a good skimmer) , $399 is
a lot of cash for me. I am VERY happy with my choice, and I will buy another
smaller one for my 65G Stingray tank.

What size tank did you put it on?

This is exactly the skimmer I have in mind for my tanks. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Yay!! I just hit the 800 club!

My tank is a 140g with a 55g sump. Gonna upgrade the sump, I am gonna build a 59" x 19" x 24" out of acrylic,
that will be a 116g sump but I will probably only have it full with about 90-100 gallons.
As of right now this skimmer is really tight in the 55g and I need more width.
I did lots of research before buying this and it is skimmer just as well as the $1,000 skimmers for only $399!
I love it!

It turned yellow after I cleaned it? I do not know, I used GE type I.
Good eye Marc...I can not tell you how many people have said
something when they see it in person.

I got almost exactly that same skimmer but in Recirculating mode (im done with those type of skimmers due to them overflowing lol). Anyway, great brand, great price, and especially good performance! Congrats you will like it!

Recirculating skimmers can overflow I have owned two of them. Nowadays most good skimmers have overflow shutoffs where if cup gets close to over filling the liquid goes down to the Venturi to stop the bubbles

Well is it "Between" meaning the level fluctuates? Remember, skimmers (especially those Venturi type) have to be in EXTREMELY stable water level... shouldn't fluctuate half an inch let alone 4 inches. Just fyi im sure you knew that but just a reminder.
