Monti starting to bleach white - frag? Cut it out?

I noticed yesterday morning that my green scroll monti was starting to bleach. It's "growing" - today it looks like this (which is 200%ish bigger):

This is a new monti - about 30 days old. When I bought it, that section to the left had snail eggs on it and was the cut section (where the guy cut it from the source). It was looking just like a dead spot until yesterday when it began to spread.

Should I frag the rest of the monti to save part of it?

Thanks!

Notes about tank:
  • 4 year old established 150g
  • Alk - 9.2, Calc 450, temp 77, salinity 1.026
  • No other corals exhibiting stress (incl. other monti)

It's definitely worth a try. Break off that end to the right and hopefully it will make it.

Do you have any idea what started the bleaching? If it's something in your water then breaking off a piece won't do anything. Good luck!

Thanks. I went ahead and did a minor bit of surgery to get that part out. It's been a few days and, so far, so good. Thanks again :)
