Metal tie downs on pump in sump.

So I setup my current tank 1.5 years ago and while cleaning out my sump really well yesterday I noticed that I used a metal pipe strap to hold the hose onto my return pump, and it has begun to rust now. Is that bad for the tank?? I guess when I designed the system I didn't think about it and what metals could possibly be in it which could be bad for my tank.

Also, if you guys don't use the metal straps, what do you use to be sure that hoses stay on a return pump... just zip ties?

Yup, you need to find one of the plastic clamps for that. Elliot's hardware has them locally.

The base metals in some of these clamps is brass, so potentially copper poisoning. Small chance, but possible, nonetheless.

Ok, thanks. I'll go get a plastic tie to use tomorrow unless I can get some good zip ties on there that hold well enough.
