Live Sand Type

I am in the process of putting a list together of equipment, live rock, and live sand and will be posting it at a later date for suggestions. I have seen several types of live sand available for sale. For ex: Florida, Fiji, Caribbean and others. Is there any real difference in what their uses are preffered for (reef, FOWLR, etc.) or are the only variations in the color, texture and size? Are there any that need to be avoided or can be trouble some? We would like to have some sand dwelling fish in a mixed reef tank and I was thinking of a 2" - 3" SB in a 90G BF. Thanks.

If you can find some pulverized limestone, that would be the cheapest way to go. I've used it for my 120 to get a 4-6" DSB without issues. You just need to rinse it a few times before using it. Also heard that you don't want to have a sand bed between 2-3". They call that no man's land. If you want sand for asthetics, go 1-2". If you want a deep sandbed go 4-6".
