Lighting Question

My tank is a deep tank I have 82 gallons of show and a 40 gallon refuge. Atm I have a pfo duel 175w mh fixture, I am thinking of buying a duel 400 watt mh system would that be too much light? My tank is 23" deep

I would run with the 175s and if you don't get the growth or results you want think about upgrading later. Dual 400s is about max I would go with on an 80 but it also depends alot on what you want to keep.

I agree with Pete... If you upgrade, go 250W first.... or add another 175 if its not a fixture. If its pendants you can mix and match lighting color to give you some added pop, something like 2 14K and 1 20K etc.....

IMO 400's would be way too much for that tank.
