Lighting not staying on......

I have a VHO set up with an icecap 660, the lights over the past few days wont stay on consistentyly. I can unplug the lights and re-plug them into another slot in the power strip, they come back on for a few minutes then they turn off again. I can repeat this as many times as I want.

Does anyone know what is causing this? I am wondering if its the ballast going out, I have replaced it in the past, but never had this problem before.

might check the end caps and make sure your getting a good connection (fully seated) or maybe one of your wires is loose at the end cap or one end cap is bad?
 
I appreciate the insight from everyone, but I think its the ballast. I started hearing a popping noise from the tank a bit ago and then black smoke coming from the area of the ballast. So, I think the ballast just blew.

If anyone has an Icecap 660 for sale I need one!!!
